Guest Speaker Visits Loretta Sinopoli’s Comp Classes


Local digital artist and animator, Laurance Andrew (L.A.) R., visited Loretta Sinopoli’s Comp I and Comp II classes, to speak about art in preparation for the two classes’ upcoming field trip to the Neuberger Museum in Purchase, New York. Mr. Rippy discussed how artists get inspired, the mediums they choose, and the process of creating art. In addition, he also introduced the classes to the different elements of art and how the students can look at art more critically. Students were very impressed with Mr. Rippy’s vast portfolio, including a video animation, as well as, his fun and engaging style.

L.A. is a digital artist and animator residing in White Plains. He attended the Fashion Institute of Technology where he attained his Associates degree in Illustration and Bachelors in Computer Animation. After graduation, L.A. has worked on various projects from storyboards, to logo designs, and even animated music videos. He does most of his work on the computer drawing digital cartoons and quirky drawings. He specializes in using programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and Flash.
