Lobbying for TAP in Albany
CW students, staff members and our president, Ms. Mary Beth Del Balzo travelled to Albany to encourage lawmakers to restore the maximum Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) award for students attending colleges that offer only two-year degree programs.
Our CW delegates were part of a group representing New York’s Association of Proprietary Colleges (APC), easily identified by their blue and white scarves. Students lobbying for TAP in Albany were Bequine Renee Clark, Kemique Jacobs, Muhammad Kham, Chantae Muschett, Stephen Payne and Ryan Williams. The lawmakers meeting our delegation included Senators Gustavo Rivera, George Latimer, and David Carlucci, as well as Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer.
Thank you to all the students and staff for making the effort to travel to Albany and encourage lawmakers to make TAP available to all students.

From CW to the NBA-Cisco Dream Team
We are proud to announce that a CW student has been selected as a member of the NBA-Cisco Dream Team at the 2015 NBA All-Star Game in New York City! The Dream Team includes 30 students and 2 instructors and CW’s David Ortiz is one of the students! Currently pursuing an AAS in Computer Networking Administration, David feels ready for this unique opportunity, “I’m very excited and honored to be a part of such an amazing experience. I also look forward to working with Cisco and the NBA.”
During the All Star events the students will work with NBA and Cisco engineers to troubleshoot, perform network diagnostics and provide other informational technology services. From February 7 – 16th, the students will be immersed into the program and David has clear goals to be completed by the end of the program, “To get a real world work experience and have the honor of working with some of the best in the networking field.”
The NBA-Cisco Dream Team at the 2015 NBA All-Star Game in New York City is part of the Cisco Networking Academy. This program provides a million students worldwide with the skills needed to design, build, manage and secure computer networks.
Congratulations to David for this accomplishment and we look forward to hearing from him at the end of the program.

Students, faculty, and staff had a chance to discuss some of Microsoft’s business initiatives along with what visitors to the store can expect in terms of products, services, and entertainment.
The club looks forward to hosting more guest speakers in the fall.
