Career Services’ first annual Entry-level Management Trainee Career Fair, which was organized by Career Counselors Leslie Godfrey-Coverdale and Terry Keyes and attended by major corporations, was targeted to and attended by students near the completion of their studies in business and management and alumni. The students and alumni, specifically interested in training programs for entry–level management positions, were pre-registered, had résumés approved by Career Services counselors, and were mentored on how to present themselves professionally to participate in the fair. The attending companies were hiring for entry-level positions with the intention of having the employee move up their corporate ladder.
The representative from AXA stated that he was very impressed that so many students had visited their website in advance. Hertz said that the students exhibited good etiquette (eye contact, hand shake, etc.) and that he will be contacting many of the students for interviews. Prudential would have liked to have seen more students, but thought that those who attended were excellent quality candidates. The response from both students and employers was extremely positive and resulted in many interviews and career possibilities.
