
As a way to give back to the community, Office Technologies Assistant Professor, Raymond Giles will be volunteering to teach a variety of Computer Literacy courses in Harlem on Saturdays. The courses range from introduction to computers, to web design, and they are free and open to the general public. The courses being offered are:
May 21 - Social Networking
- 11:00 am - 12:30 pm: Introduction to Social Networking
- 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Social Networking for professional purposes
May 28 - Part II: Websites for Entrepreneurs (Intermediate)
- 11:00 am - 12:30 pm: Got a project that requires a web site? Learn to use a web server; what is word press, basic functions of web sites
- 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Applying html to create and publish a personal web site/register a domain name
June 4 - Microsoft Excel
- 11:00 am - 12:30 pm: What is Excel; how to use Excel; basic functions
- 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Applying basics to create formulas and make a personal income/expense report
June 18 - Microsoft Word/Resumes
- 11:00 am - 12:30 pm: Resume basics; formatting in Microsoft Word
- 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Bring your cover letter/resume for critiquing
June 25 - Part III: Web Applications for Businesses (Advanced)
- 11:00 am - 12:30 pm: What is an e-business, and ecommerce; how to use security; basic functions
- 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Advanced functions in web sites and make partnerships, start web store
