CW Hosts Medical Career Cafe
Preparing for a job interview takes much thought, time, and strategy. You only get one shot to make a good impression and to put your best foot forward. So much of your career success relies on your ability to seize opportunities that are presented to you. That’s why Career Services put together the “Medical Career Café” so students can prepare for a successful job interview, which will hopefully ends in a job offer. “This is for students who graduated or are getting close to graduation. We brought four different employers including WestMed and White Plains Hospital, and students talk to them and rotate every 20 minutes. They learn what to say during a job interview, how to act, what to dress, the right handshaking, etc,” said Mairelis Chavez, Career Counselor and adjunct instructor who led the production of the Medical Career Café. “These types of events are great for students. I’m glad we can do that here. We have career development workshops, career fairs, etc. If they can get a job, it would be great, but getting experience is also important,” added Mairelis.
