As part of Prof. Noel D’Allacco’s
Business Etiquette & Customer Service class, City of Yonkers Council
Member, Christopher Johnson talked to students about different topics
including the importance of being registered to vote. During Q&A
session, Johnson heard students’ concerns which included current
political environment in Washington, D.C., tuition costs, his daily
routine as a councilmember and how exactly the electoral system actually
works. Johnson divided the class into different groups to show how a
small group of voters can affect a large group of people who do not go
out to vote.
Johnson was elected at the age of 27 into the
Yonkers City Council, and has taken active roles in many organizations
in the area. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Long
Island University-C.W. Post Campus and a Master’s Degree in Education
from Fordham University. Johnson was born and raised in The Bronx with
deep family roots in Yonkers spanning several generations.
