Colonel Charles Faro, Vice Commander of Stewart Air Base, and Jeanne Dion from their Office of Family Readiness, came to CW on July 22 to thank CW for 4 large boxes of our donated items for U.S. service men and women overseas.
Approximately 50 students, faculty, and staff attended the Acceptance Ceremony. Aside from Col. Faro, speakers included John Hunter, who has served in the NY Air National Guard for 18 years, and Evening student Lilly Carvalho, a veteran who spoke about the importance of receiving care packages when she was serving in the Middle East.
Jeanne Dion mentioned that she had recently heard from a platoon in Iraq that was in desperate need of supplies, and she decided they would receive our donations. So the Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kappa, and everyone who contributed items can take pride that CW has made a big difference for our service members.
