Breaking Into Game Design
From bedroom startups to multimillion-dollar budgets, the game design arena is growing every year and there is a vast array of opportunities for the right candidates. One way to find out what it really takes to break into game design is to hear it from the experts. Sande Chen is an independent game designer who visited CW and talked to students about her experience in the field. “Game design is a mysterious job, is complex and you’re always a team player. You are not the boss. You should be able to receive input from different people because you have to please several people,” said Chen who spoke to the Game Design and Development class. “Be proactive and creative. Don’t be afraid that people may steal your ideas. It’s all about how do you implement them and execute them,” added Chen who encouraged students to be determined and very persistent.
